What It Takes to Become an ALCP Priest

Question: Many Benefactors have asked how many years it will take for my seminarian to be ordained to the Priesthood.

Answer: It takes 10 years to become an ALCP Priest. (Annual cost of $3100)

Year One - Discernment

Formation house training on the ALCP history and spirituality.

ALCP Relationship period. Come see and decide your vocation.

Years Two &Three - Philosophy

Seminarian educated in senior seminary on Philosophy (Jordan University, Morogoro, Tanzania)

Year Four - Novitiate

At the St. Bernhard Bendel Formation House the seminarian spendstime in formation house performing pastoral work in parishes. The candidates then attend a special Mass where they are given the constitution of the order-three evangelical councils: Poverty, chastity, and obedience. This is a major decision period on their journey to continue with the ALCP.

Years Five to Eight - Theology

Education continues at Jordan University, Morogoro,  in Senior and Major Seminaries learning Theology. During this time they will be assigned to a parish during holy days.

After three and half years they become ordained a deacon and after another six months, with the grace of God, they are ordained an ALCP priest!

Years 9 - Pastoral Work

The seminarian will serve for a year of pastoral work in a Catholic parish in either Tanzania or Kenya, under the supervision of an ALCP pastor.

Years 10 - Deaconate and Priesthood

Continues with studies at Jordan University Morogora, Tanzania, and after six months they will be ordained a deacon. After six months of deaconate work, they will be ordained to the priesthood.

Please remember to pray for your seminarian through his journey to Priesthood. Daily, your seminarian is praying for you, his special benefactor. When your seminarian is an ordained Catholic Priest you will be remembered at every Holy Catholic mass he celebrates! Here are some of the seminarians currently being supported by faithful Catholics, just like you, through donations to Worldwide Seminarian Support. Below you will find some information about these seminarians being funded by WSS.
