Please Join Us in Prayer For Our Church

Especially for those being called to the priesthood and the consecrated life. Our Church depends on the holy priesthood for the continuation of the sacraments and the continued leadership of the Church. The WSS supported priests and seminarians pray fervently  for their donors daily, asking for divine protection and abundant blessings. Please remember to keep these priests, and seminarians in your prayers also.

A Prayer for Vocations

Oh Lord Jesus Christ, Good Shepherd of our souls, you who know your sheep and know how to reach your children's hearts, open the minds and hearts of our young people who search for and await a word of truth for their lives. Let them understand that only in the mystery of your Incarnation they can find full light.

Arouse the courage of those who know where to seek the truth, but must deal with challenges in this world, such as fear that what you ask will be too demanding. Stir their hearts that they may overcome doubts, fears, other voices and paths, which lead nowhere.

You who are the Word of the Father, the Word which creates and saves, the Word which enlightens and sustains hearts, conquer with your spirit the resistance and delays of indecisive hearts. Arouse in them the courage and love to answer œyes to your call. œHere I am, send me.

Virgin Mary, Mother of God and Our Mother, support with your motherly love our youth, to whom the Father will grant that they may hear His voice. Protect also those who are already consecrated. Let them repeat with you the œyes of the joyful and irrevocable gift of self.  Amen.

 Worldwide's Patron Saint

At our 2009 annual board meeting in Palm Beach Florida, it was brought to the attention of the board that Worldwide Seminarian Support needed a patron saint. After much discussion and prayerful discernment, one of our founding members, our founding priest Fr. Nicholas Nilema ALCP brought it to our attention that the Blessed Mother would be the perfect patron for our organization and our cause. She has been such a powerful testiment to doing the holy will of God, and she has given such direction and intervention to our organization especially in its founding years. She is the Mother of God, the Mother of the Church, and the Mother of all Believers, so who better to have? At that same meeting founding board member Patty Becker gave a little background on Our Lady of Good Remedy. As you can read below, the rich history and the origin of Our Lady of Good Remedy is fascinating, and has firm roots in fundraising for noble, worthy, holy causes. We have been so blessed and guided by the prayers and support of our Blessed Mother. We invite each and every one of you to implore the help of Our Lady of Good Remedy for Worldwide Seminarian Support, fundraising for the education of Catholic seminarians to the priesthood, and for your own personal intentions. The Blessed Mother always leads us to her son, our Lord, Jesus Christ.

WORLDWIDE SEMINARIAN SUPPORT PATRON SAINT

 - Our Lady of Good Remedy -

A Brief History on Our Lady of Good Remedy

800 years ago Christians were being captured and sold into slavery by the Muslims by the thousands, and nobody knew what to do about it. Then, in the year 1198, a man had an idea. St. John of Matha founded the Trinitarians to go to the slave markets, buy the Christian slaves and set them free.

To carry out this plan, the Trinitarians needed large amounts of money. So, they placed their fund-raising efforts under the patronage of Mary. They were so successful at that, over the centuries, the Trinitarians were able to free thousands and thousands of people and to return them safely home.

In gratitude for her miraculous assistance, St. John of Matha honored Mary with the title of "Our Lady of Good Remedy." Devotion to Mary under this ancient title is widely known in Europe and Latin America, and the Church celebrates her feast day on October 8. Our Lady of Good Remedy is often depicted as the Virgin Mary handing a bag of money to St. John of Matha.

When in need - for whatever reason, but especially where you have had difficulty obtaining help - invoke the aid of Our Lady of Good Remedy, and you will surely experience the power of her intercession.

There is a great shortage of vocations here in the United States, but in Africa, India, and many other areas around the world, there is currently a surge of vocations to the priesthood. In this novena, along with your personal intentions, please remember to include Worldwide Seminarian Support, for the funding of the education of Catholic Seminarians, and the growth of the Church.

Our Lady of Good Remedy Novena Prayer

O QUEEN OF HEAVEN AND EARTH, Most Holy Virgin, we venerate thee. Thou art the beloved Daughter of the Most High God, the chosen Mother of the Incarnate Word, the Immaculate Spouse of the Holy Spirit, the Sacred Vessel of the Most Holy Trinity.
O Mother of the Divine Redeemer, who under the title of Our Lady of Good Remedy comes to the aid of all who call upon thee, extend thy maternal protection to us. We depend on thee, Dear Mother, as helpless and needy children depend on a tender and caring mother.

Hail Mary....

O LADY OF GOOD REMEDY, source of unfailing help, grant that we may draw from thy treasury of graces in our time of need.
Touch the hearts of sinners, that they may seek reconciliation and forgiveness. Bring comfort to the afflicted and the lonely; help the poor and the hopeless; aid the sick and the suffering. May they be healed in body and strengthened in spirit to endure their sufferings with patient resignation and Christian fortitude.

Hail Mary....

DEAR LADY OF GOOD REMEDY, source of unfailing help, thy compassionate heart knows a remedy for every affliction and misery we encounter in life. Help me with thy prayers and intercession to find a remedy for my problems and needs, especially for... (Indicate your special intentions here).

On my part, O loving Mother, I pledge myself to a more intensely Christian lifestyle, to a more careful observance of the laws of God, to be more conscientious in fulfilling the obligations of my state in life, and to strive to be a source of healing in this broken world of ours.
Dear Lady of Good Remedy, be ever present to me, and through thy intercession, may I enjoy health of body and peace of mind, and grow stronger in the faith and in the love of thy Son, Jesus.

Hail Mary.....

V. Pray for us, O Holy Mother of Good Remedy,
R. That we may deepen our dedication to thy Son, and make the world alive with His Spirit. AMEN
